Grecia 59 Sanatura Escazu

Winless Grecia came into our gym without any pressure at all and scared the living hell out of us in the first half.  With starting point guard Aonso Sanchez out with an injury, Dwayne Grant saw extensive action since suffering a leg injury himself earlier in the month. The first half was marred by sloppy defense on our end coupled with Grecia player Vinicio Vargas hitting rainbow jumpers to keep the game close, giving us the slimmest of leads at halftime 39-38.

In the third quarter we tightened up on defense, smothering Grecia's shooters and able to generate some turnovers. This led to some fast break opportunities that we were able to convert. We leaned on our bench to expose Grecia's lack of depth, stringing out the lead to eleven points midway through the third quarter. Reinner Little's timely outside shooting helped expand the lead and we never looked back, cruising to a 21 point win.

Game Notes

  • Reinner Little scored 18 points, including 4 three pointers, while Jeff Dixon was effective inside scoring 13 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Amir Alvarado scored 21 points for Grecia.
  • The stat sheet had us down for seven turnovers total in the game which would be a season best...except I am pretty sure that number is wrong. The real number for the game was probably double that number.
  • We got a combined 24 minutes from our Sub 21 guys, thereby complying with the 140 minutes we need to log. Fafa has been steady for us all season, while some of the other rooks have had their moments.
