Limon 79 Escazu 75

This is arguably the best team I've had on paper. We have guys that have won titles, we have guys that have played on the national team, we have guys who have led the league in scoring. So our lackadaisical, selfish play through the first three games is the most frustrating time I've had on the court. We are not going to win the title. We are not getting to the Finals.

Yesterday we got steamrolled by a Limon team that wanted to win more than we did. We gave up 50 points in the second half; to say we stopped defending is an understatement. We left guys wide open, we made some incredibly stupid fouls, we missed assignments. Every time we had the opportunity to make a stop, the Limon guys stepped up and made big baskets.

On the offensive end we combined poor shot selection with missing some point blank shots. And our fast break that was effective in the first half came to a grinding halt in the second half, coughing up the ball on numerous occasions.

Normally, I wouldn't vent here on the blog, but who are we kidding. The secret is out. We're not a very good team. The guys in the Barva and San Ramon locker rooms are reading yesterday's score and licking their chops. As they should...we have struggled to play quality basketball. And that's on me because I'm responsible for this absolute disaster.

  1. You are not responsible. Everyone is responsible. But discipline was always a problem when I was there and eventually it catches up. You put an incredible amount of passion into coaching but at the end of the day you try to stay friends with the players. This will work if everyone is already disciplined but unfortunately we were not. It is hard to change habits in grown men, and it may be too late to change, but dont discount your chances of winning a championship after 3 games. You have invested too much to have a defeated attitude. You are better thant that. I believe in you and so do the rest of your guys. It kills me to see you write a blog like this. Let your emotions calm down and refocus.
