Escazu 74 Limon 63

A hot, humid night in Limon was the scene for our visit to the Caribbean coast. Players are drenched in sweat by the time they're finished warming up. I've always wondered how long it takes for guys playing for the home side to get used to the extra stickiness.

Limon got off to a strong start with Harold Mitchell and Jake McKenzie combining to score timely buckets. Limon showed its usual grit in the first quarter, hitting the offensive glass for rebounds that stretch out possessions and keeping them in the game. Dave Millinier and David Carnegie set the tone for us on the offensive end, getting loose against a smaller Limon team, but the Limon home team finished ahead in the quarter 20-16.

The second quarter saw Isaac St Rose determined to get to the basket, which opened the floodgates for our scoring. The Limon team's offense came to a halt as its bench rotated into the game. Javier Bustamante and Reinner Little hit back to back threes to open up a ten point lead before McKenzie made a three pointer to finish the second quarter.

Dave Millinier and St. Rose combined for a strong third quarter with an inside-outside punch as Ike hit three 3 pointers. Still, Limon found a way to hang around with Harold Mitchell hitting some big baskets. The last quarter saw a balanced effort as our bench chipped in 8 points, including a couple of baskets from our sub 21 players Ronny Mondragon and Ian Waugh.

Game Notes

  • Ike St Rose and David Carnegie led the scoring with 18 apiece, while Dave Millinier added 14 to the mix. Harold Mitchell scored 18 for Limon with Jake McKenzie adding 16 points to the home side.
  • Our usual post-game spot was closed, so we had to improvise. Harold Mitchell hooked us up and found a place that scrambled for some late night rice and beans.
